Forty-five members of the Nodaway Valley Class of 2016 graduated in commencement exercises Sunday afternoon.

Valedictorian Kenna Lundy and Salutatorian Emily Schildberg, keynote speakers, spoke on the theme of the class motto, “Learn from the past, excel in the present and challenge the future.”

Schildberg spoke about the memories — some good, some bad, some funny and some “ugly” — that the class made over the years that will always connect them.

Lundy talked about how decisions made now will impact her classmates’ lives in the future and challenged them to find what they are passionate about.

The two thanked their teachers, friends, families and classmates.

High School Principal Lanny Kliefoth recognized summa cum laude (3.9 gpa and above) graduates Ryan Jensen, Jackson Lamb, Kenna Lundy, Jessica Nelson, and Emily Schildberg, as well as magna cum laude (3.75-3.89) graduates Adrienne Cass, Tessa Dahl, Samuel Marnin, and Mackenzie Meisenheimer.

School Board President Roger Jensen presented diplomas. Dr. Casey Berlau, superintendent, also participated in ceremonies.

The high school band played Pomp and Circumstance and Mobbusters! The concert choir sang I’ve Had The Time of My Life.
